Partnering with local groups to build essential structures that benefit the community.
Building Marketplaces
Liberia, a country located in West Africa, is still recovering from a civil war that lasted over 10 years. The war caused widespread damage to the country’s infrastructure, including its marketplaces. As a result, many of Liberia’s marketplaces are now desperately in need of being rebuilt in order to conduct essential functions.
We have been able to partner with teams to rebuild local markets. The markets are now protected from the rainy season, provide space for more vendors, hold more shoppers and are cleaner, healthier and safer environments.
Building Foot Bridges
Peace Island is a small island on a lake located in Rwanda. It is home to a community of people who rely on the market in the nearby town of Kibuye for their goods and services. However, the only way to get to the market is by crossing a narrow and dangerous stretch of water.
The water in the lake is contaminated with sewage and other pollutants, making it a breeding ground for disease, such as cholera, typhoid, and dysentery. In addition to the health risks, the current situation is also inconvenient and time-consuming for the people of Peace Island. It can take them up to an hour to walk to the market. We are honored to be able to provide footbridges to help improve the lives of the people on Peace Island.
